The Why Behind C.O.F.F.E.E.

C.O.F.F.E.E. (Creating Opportunities for Future Entrepreneurs and Employees) wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was born from urgency, experience, and a real conversation about survival.

After a violent crime in the community, our founder spoke with a city leader about a hard truth: many crimes aren’t driven by greed, they’re driven by survival. Fifty dollars here. A hundred dollars there. Desperation fueled by lack of access to jobs, training, and hope.

That conversation forced a deeper question: What if opportunity didn’t feel so far out of reach?

Our founder knows this reality personally. As someone who once walked that path, a skilled trade became a turning point, offering structure, purpose, and a way to provide for family without risking jail or worse. The trades didn’t just offer employment. They offered a second chance at life. But that path wasn’t clearly laid out. There were no family connections, no roadmap, no one to guide the way, just curiosity, determination, and a fascination with how things worked.

That experience shaped everything that C.O.F.F.E.E. stands for today.

Too many capable people are intimidated by systems that weren’t designed with them in mind. Walking into a school or job center can feel overwhelming. Not having a résumé, experience, transportation, or guidance can make opportunity feel unreachable. When that happens, the wrong path can feel like the easier option, even when people want better.
